J’Y SUIS
J’y suis proposes a dance production that exploits the singularities of each venue, large or small, to connect with audiences and lure them into Louise Bédard’s poetic and effervescent world of movement.
Using both the site-specific and the traditional stage experience, J’y suis thrives on the bond that is gradually woven with the audience – from the hall to the stage area – turning each spectator into an engaged witness of the action: minimalist to grand. J’y suis means I’m here, and being here involves the audience as much as the dancers.
Louise Bédard and her collaborators took advantage of eleven weeks of creation in seven venues of Montreal’s presenting network, thanks to the outstanding support of the Conseil des arts de Montréal residency program. From August 2012 to January 2013, during these residencies, the company held more than ten outreach activities, mostly public rehearsals, reaching more than 500 people. While the company explored the particularity of each space, the invited public set its eyes on the developing work, and shared with candor their first reactions: heartfelt, touching and so valuable. These meetings offered the artists many inspiring occasions to put forth their ideas and intuitions with an audience, before moving elsewhere for a new phase of creation.

REVIEWS
[..] Un mouvement pur donné en partage.
