Promesses - Faces

Louise Bédard’s new creation, Promesses, has just come out of creative residency, full of exciting new material. Louise Bédard continues to experiment and learn about her profession as a choreographer and about the relationship that is woven with movement, space and, above all, with others.

With six talented and sensitive performers, Louise Bédard presents three duos that explore painting, sculpture, and writing.

MARILYN DAOUST

Marilyn Daoust graduated from the dance department at UQAM and has since been twice awarded a CAC scholarship. She has had the chance of dancing with Manon Oligny, Louise Bédard, Liliane Moussa, Daina Ashbee, Cirque du Soleil, Martin Messier, Lucie Grégoire, Delphine Véronneau and Projets Hybris.

SÉBASTIEN PROVENCHER

A graduate in contemporary dance at UQAM, he received the William Douglas scholarship. He participated in festivals all over Canada: Quartiers Danses, La petite Scène, Dance Matter, and in France at the festival Auteurs de Troubles. He performed with multiple choreographers including Hélène Simard and Priscilla Guy who presented their work in 2019 at the Agora de la danse. His creation Children of Chemistry was awarded the Prix Coup de Coeur du public at the festival Quartiers Danses in 2015.

MARIE CLAIRE FORTÉ

Choreographer and dancer, Marie Claire pursues her own projects and works, especially with Louise Bédard, Aurélien Pédron, Martin Bélanger, and PME-ART. In 2016, the Leonard & Bina Ellen Artistic Production Support Program gave her the opportunity to produce the bilingual exhibition project and publication - I’d rather something ambiguous. She was performer-in-residence at the Agora de la danse.

NICOLAS PATRY

Nicolas graduated from the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal. In 2009, he joined the MayDay team for the work Junkyard/Paradise. He then worked for the Cirque du Soleil under the direction of Harold Rayome, Alan Lake, and Pigeons International, the Carré des Lombes company, and Jacques Poulin-Denis. He then joined Virginie Brunelle in her work PLOMB, and more recently joined the team of the Marche du Crabe.

ALEJANDRO DE LEON

Alejandro is a choreographer, film director, photographer and artistic advisor for various artists. He founded the collective Lost & Found. He also performed for prestigious companies such as the Royal Winnipeg Ballet, the Compañía Nacional de Danza, Compagnie Cas Public, Marie Chouinard .

LOUIS-ELYAN MARTIN

Choreographer and performer, graduate from the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal, Louis-Elyan pursues his professional career working with O Vertigo, Holy Body tattoo, Alan Lake factorie, Montréal danse, the Carré des Lombes company. For the past few years, he has been developing his sense of choreography with Gaga, Tanz theatre, and Dimitri Papaioannou. was chosen to participate in creative residencies such as the Espace Marie Chouinard, EDCM, Circuit-Est centre chorégraphique.

DIANE LABROSSE

Diane Labrosse strives to make melodies, textures and noises cohabit in the sound space. Since 1990, she has created music for theatre, film and contemporary dance. She has composed for several ensembles as well as for incongruous instruments (boats, typists, printers...). Since 2000, she has created sound installations in which objects and spatialization are in the spotlight. As an improviser, mainly using the digital sampler, she regularly performs on current and improvised music stages at home and abroad. Her discography includes more than 50 records, most of which can be found at the Ambiances Magnétiques label. She was co-artistic director of Productions SuperMusique from 1980 to 2008.

SAMER YEHYA

A graduate in audiovisual studies, Samer Yehya has been working in stage techniques for more than 10 years. He has worked as lighting technician on TV and film shoots, then as lighting designer and lighting manager in theatre, dance and music festival projects in Beirut. Based in Montreal since 2015, his passion for the performing arts led him to begin a career in the circus world. In 2018, he began training in acrobatic rigging and has since collaborated with various companies in Montreal, including the Cirque Eloïze, which he accompanied on tour in the United States and in Quebec.

JULIEN BRUN

Julien Brun is a multifaceted stage designer, in turn scenographer, lighting designer, director and designer of temporary architecture. He graduated from the National Theatre School of Canada, developing his personal research project and artistic exploration as well as numerous collaborations with directors, artistic directors and creators from Europe and North America. He participated in the creation of visual universes for opera, dance, theatre and circus projects, the creation of multidisciplinary stage works with his own company, artistic consulting for cultural events, and teaching. He has collaborated with the Conservatoire National Supérieur d'Art Dramatique de Paris, the Opéra Comique, the Festival d'opéra de Québec, the Société des arts technologiques de Montréal, Folkwang University of Essen, the Goethe Institute of Kuala Lumpur, the Musée d'Orsay, the Festival international d'art lyrique d'Aix-en-Provence and the Swiss Cully Classique festival.

MARILÈNE BASTIEN

Marilène Bastien works as set and costume designer in theatre, circus and dance. She has collaborated with many renowned choreographers including Louise Bédard, Virginie Brunelle, Sylvain Émard, Hélène Langevin, AlanLake, Ginette Laurin, Ismaël Mouaraki, Anne Plamondon, Jacques Poulin-Denis and Manuel Roque. Marilène also designed the costumes for several circus shows, among them three Cirque du Soleil productions as well as for the recent creation of the Cirque Éloize. In the theatre, she recently participated in the creations of directors Michel-Maxime Legault, Catherine Vidal and Nini Bélanger. In the spring of 2018, she created the costumes for the opera Fando et Lis. In 2015 Marilène was made protégée of Anick La Bissonnière, winner of the prestigious Siminovitch Award.

CHRISTINE CHARLES

Christine Charles has been practicing dance since 1989, first as a dancer-performer, then as artistic advisor and rehearsal director. While constantly reinventing her intervention spaces, she seeks to support the artists’ creative impulse in her choreographic creation. As an artist recognized by her peers, she has collaborated as artistic advisor and rehearsal director on more than eighty works and some twenty rehearsals. She maintains long and fruitful collaborations with renowned choreographers such as Louise Bédard, Emmanuel Jouthe, Manon Oligny and Dominique Porte, and regularly works alongside emerging artists.
